Dear...

Dear Dreaded Lurgy,

I know you have a quota to keep up to, but next time you decide to decide to call, could you maybe call ahead and check my schedule?

I only ask because, your recent 4 day visit happened to coincide exactly with time booked out of my annual holiday allowance, whereas I'd much rather it came out of my paid sick leave.

I'm sure you can understand my reasoning behind this.

Thank you for your attention,

Your current host.

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition...

Stolen from</a></b></a></b></div></b>[info]katieay. She asked me five questions. My answers are under the cut. If you would like me to ask you questions, leave me a comment and then post your answers to your journal!

Okay, I've had my first official warning poke on this, so here are my answers to Katie's 5 questions!

1. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

Well I suppose I quite fancy a trip to a provincial, little out post of the former British Empire ;o) But since I was young I've always really fancied starting in Alaska and working my way down, obviously there are one or two countries once you hit South America you'd probably avoid but the idea still appeals to me.

2. You read a lot, do you have an absolute favourite book?

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. (Always know where my towel is!)

3. What's your favourite story of the ones you've written (fanfic or original).

Oh I'm quite proud of The Second Unbreakable Vow, because while most of it was wildly inaccurate in the  long run, I did end up guessing correctly on a number of points, Snape's loyalties, that Dumbledore forced him in to agreeing to kill him and that Harry would learn about in in a Pensive.

But for the shear fun of it and and how it was posted (and I still get the odd indignant review after for the first chapter!) I have to plump for The Baby, I've never giggled evilly quite so much as I did that April the 1st.

4. What was the first cd/cassette/LP you ever paid for?

Time, by The Electric Light Orchestra.

5. Have you ever really been a fan of a celebrity (posters on the wall, etc)? Who?

Yup, lil' old Kyle, back when Gold Hot Pants (TM) took a back seat to dungarees! LOL

What do you do when you're in the car alone?

I'd panic slightly, and worry about the other drivers on the road, as I've never taken a driving lesson in my life, don't have a licence, nor a car actually!

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first article title on the page is the name of your band.

2. http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.

3. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

You then take the pic and add your band name and the album title to it, then post your pic.

Is it considered geeky to...

...wander past someone reading at a bus stop, and with the meerest glance, at some distance, know which HP book, they are reading, and what chapter? (all without seeing the cover)

Noooooooooo!

Okay, so that's what I didn't need.

There I am, nicely plotting along my fic idea for Nano. It's a good idea especially formulated to make it as easy as possible to hit 50,000.

When along comes the first inklings of an original plot idea. With scenes and everything.

It's fifteen days to Nano, what's this all about? Who's been spiking the bunnies feed? What the onhfosdnfodsnfs! do I do now!

The fic idea will work, give me something to polish up and post. Will be easier to keep the flow of writing up, thus hitting 50,000 that bit easier.

or

Do the original idea, as it is not something I'd do at any other time of the year. But it'll be harder to keep going when inspiration is lacking, however if I do hit 50,000 the satisfaction will be that bit more.

I wouldn't have minded a fortnight ago, I'd have had the opportunity to play around with the idea that bit more.

Well, who knows, Nano's meant to be a challenge.

Question is. How big of a one do I make it?

horseguards parade

Well, I’m more than a little knackered tired. Got up early yesterday to catch the train down to London, to meet up with Katieay, M, Lucas, and AntoniaEast. :)

Where did we meet up? Where else but Platform 9 3/4!

Lucas and I became immediate friends, and as a good friend should, I tried to draw him away from the dark side. :)

Lunch was followed by a few hours relaxing and chatting in St James Park, and then Ice-Cream in Leicester Square, where I also purchased a half-price ticket to go see Blood Brothers, as I was staying overnight (because of the way the train tickets were priced, it was only slightly more to stay the night and travel back today - well that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!)

Talking of which, when they said it was front row they weren’t kidding, my legs were up against the stage! As as ever (I’ve seen versions of it three times now) it was a fantastic show, the ending is just heart-breaking.

Then came the train journey home and I managed to get 700 words or down for my hpgw-ficafest entry.

All in all a successful and enjoyable - if tiring - weekend. :D

Drabble Challenge

Okay I’m taking up OhGinnyFan’s drabble challenge, as I could probably do with stretching my fic writing skills before diving into my hpgw_ficafest.

So, for the first 10 to respond, I offer a 100 word drabble. I plan for all of these to be 100 words. No more. No less. If something strikes me, I may re-work it later into a regular fic.

Must be canon requests through DH. Missing Moments, post DH, etc. It can be any canon pairing or no pairing. I will try to accomodate all requests that I’m given.

Harry Potter and the Green Flame Review

Don’t these people look at dates…

A review I’ve just received for my 2005 story, The Baby.

Never write these again. They’re terrible, and what the heck, you’re changing J.K. Rowling’s story…Harry, Ron, Ginny, and Hermionie dueling Voldemort in the Chamber of Secrets?! ARe you retarded! GOD! And to that idiotic girl who almost didn’t realize it was J.K. Rowling, you are a moron, and the rest of you that enjoyed it have absolutely no taste. Harry and Ginny got married and had three kids named James, Albus, and Lily, and never had a baby or pretended to have one. Rowling has a totally different and much better writing style. I’ll never visit this sorry site again.

And my reply…

Oooh! Get you!

First off, why would I want to write them again, I’m rather proud of them, thank you!

And speaking of morons… I think you’ll find that this story was written way back on 2005 (check out the dates on the earliest reviews) long before the wonderful Deathly Hallows was published. And as such the facts you so eloquently listed, were at that time only known by JKR. This was only a fanfiction story. It may be an idea, by-the-way, for you to look the definition of fanfiction up (wikipedia is a good place to start), its reason d’etre, is funnily enough, not to be canon, but to interpret, continue or indeed change storylines that may or may not exist in the original.

Oh and are you suggesting Harry and Ginny adopted their kids? Now there’s an idea for a fic!

Am I bad for enjoying myself?
